If we don't joyfully serve God with genuine thankfulness, He'll punish us for it by bringing difficult people into our lives to oppress us (Deut. 28:47-48B).  

The wicked think, “God isn’t watching us! He has closed his eyes and won’t even see what we do!” Psalm 10:11 (NLT) 

As the refining pot is for silver and a furnace for gold, the refiner of our hearts is the Lord. Proverbs 17:3.  

I will remember the things the Lord has done. Yes, I will remember the powerful works of long ago. I will think of all Your work, and keep in mind all the great things You have done. Psalm 77:11-12 (NLV).

During a Jewish festival in Jerusalem, Jesus shook up the religious establishment of His day when He had the gall to go into THEIR temple and preach (John 7:14).  With Jesus having NO formal training, they were aghast that He would do such a thing! Too earthly minded. No heavenly good.

"Pursue the things over which Christ presides.  Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you.  Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is.  See things from his perspective. (Col. 3:2 MSG)" Reality includes a loving God who is watching you and over you in heaven. When you forget that fact, that's when the problems within your temporal world delude your life.  If you don't walk in this truth, it is a symptom of unbelief, and pulls you out of a right relationship with God.  Here's a way to determine if your walking in faith or unbelief.  Ask am I thinking from heaven to earth, or from earth to heaven?
